Well, lead weights are used to join groups of plants, in fact, used in all my tanks to keep plants. They cause no problems there.
However, a better proposal is a clip of vegetables. They are sold in pet shops, a small sum of money and is easy to use and keep food in place and not floating in the tank.

They may be clips of animal feed made for this purpose. They work very well. Press the suction cup on the glass and go up the food. My Plecos and cats love. Put it on how HLF on the side of the tank.

Lead poisoning is more likely if the water is acidic (pH below 7.0) if, but I personally would not take that risk. It is easy to connect to a small stone with a rubber band, or use a clip from squash plants "(available at aquarium stores).

Attached to a flat rock would be safer for the fish in the aquarium. Preferably, working under a rock, fresh water, no matter what kind of disinfectant.

That's good if they still floating fish to eat.

And the weight of lead are toxic and the spread of poison in the water itself is so bad that you are using.
